portrait of a nation
2023-2025
Following service industry workers and union leaders across one of the most prolific striking periods in the history of industrial action in the United Kingdom. Unlike other periods of striking history, workers from increasingly diverse facets on industries organised strikes, often simultaneously, and some from industries that have not been on strike for decades, others for the first time in the history of their organisation. This work concludes a postgraduate study into the lived experiences of industry members faced with the prospect of striking. Highlighting individual accounts of strikes, it seeks to highlight and to question the position of working people in today's Britain. Thank you for everyone who took the time to take part in this study.
